It was created by the Nicklaus design team and incorporates the natural habitats of the island in its design and construction. This course is built around Cozumel 's native trees, red mangroves, and natural wetlands in order to preserve ecologically sensitive areas. There are only three areas on the golf course where golfers playing another hole are visible, allowing the golfers to enjoy the peace and quiet of the natural surroundings.

Conveniently located just off West Bay Road and opposite fabled Seven Mile Beach, the island course offers challenging play and panoramic views of the North Sound. Adorned with native foliage including mahogany, coconut palms and silver thatch, the Club is also home to several species of native birds and it is not uncommon to share the fairway and greens with sunbathing iguanas of all sizes.
