Cosmopolitan Country Club

The Cosmopolitan Country Club is one of the most competitive courses in Tuscany. Voted best new golf course in Italy in 1993, it is a "must play" for the golfing enthusiast. Four tee areas vary the set up option on each hole. The holes offer great variety and visual fair-ness, most greens are large and the fairness have been strategically mounded to define play. Water comes into play on 11 holes and vast sand bunkers surround most of holes 3, 8 and 16. The par 4, 16th is actually an island in the sand that at 298m makes the tee shot a thinking man's challenge. Both 9 & 18 finish to the clubhouse with strategic par 5 water carries. Palheiro Golf Course

Architect Cabel Robinson designed this 18-hole, par 72 course, which is skillfully set in the estate and parkland of the Quinta do Palheiro. Magnificent specimen trees and shrubs, lush vegetation and the splendid views of the bay and out to the sea have resulted in one of Europe 's most beautiful courses. 5 par 3s increase the number of 'fun' holes. Fairway contouring and bunker positions will demand accurate tee shot placement to set up the best approach to the contoured greens. Players will benefit from the numerous tees on each hole, and generous fairway widths.Bogey golf, even par golf, is feasible for the average player. For the best combination of holes, Palheiro is designed as a continuous 18, like St Andrew's, Sotogrande and other famous courses. The design has made full use of the hilly terrain which has been supplimented by ornamental lakes. The trees, bunkers and water hazards give a demanding game that requires precision approach shots.
