MAHOGANY RUN GOLF COURSE
COMPLETES MILLION DOLLAR RENOVATION

St. Thomas, U.S.V.I.-- Mahogany Run Golf Course has re-grassed all 18 greens and the practice putting green. The new type of grass is called Seashore Paspalum, ecotype Salam. This is renowned for it's hardiness on coastal golf courses that are susceptible to salt waster intrusion and salt spray, such as Mahogany Run. Seashore Paspalum provides an alternative grass of comparable texture and quality to the hybrid Bermuda grasses that can tolerate effluent, brackish, and seawater blends.

Prior to planting the new grass, the soil quality was amended to increase permeability with peat moss, gypsum and 900 tons of manufactured sand. A professional shaper was hired to make the greens fair and challenging. The most significant addition was to double the size of No. 15 green, the third hole in the world famous Devil's Triangle. No. 15 green now boasts 6,000 feet, and easier target to hit from 80 yards of forced carry.

In addition to the re-grassing project, the course was also able to address playability issues, increase signage, renovate several tee boxes and all of its bunkers. All 33 bunkers were cleaned out, drainage was repaired and sand from the island of Barbuda was barged to St. Thomas to complete the project.

All 18 holes are open for play. Contact Elite Golf Cruises @ (800) 324-1106 or log on to CarnivalGolf.com for details and advanced reservations.
